Toddler Speak

After listening to my daughter babble this morning as she learns new words, I thought I would share some of her silly variations of our english language

Thank you - Kasheesh  - I can't even begin to explain how she came up with this one!
Please - Peesh
Grandma/Grandpa - Maka
Balloon - Boont
Owwie - Ah-yo

I'm sure there are many, many others that make me giggle, but these are by far my favorites! I would love to hear some of your toddler-isms if you'd like to share!

The Last of Fall

As we prepare to hunker down for the winter, we've been doing a lot of work around here lately, including installing a new, more energy efficient window in our family room to keep us toasty warm as the temperature drops. As fall comes to an end, we took one final step outside to prepare for winter and spent our day raking and burning the last of the fallen leaves. The first time I raked leaves with Nadija she didn't show much interest in playing in the pile, but this time it was a much different story. She discovered how fun the piles of leaves could be as she helped move hands full of leaves from one pile to the next, kicked them around and finally plopped her bundled self right into the middle! Ahh, to be small again!

The Wonderful World of Imagination

My 19 month old daughter has recently entered into the world of imagination. I had no idea that it would start this early or capture my heart the way that it has! She has three favorite "babies" now, a pig, a baby doll and a bunny. She can be found "taking care" of one or all of them (that can get interesting) at any given time of day.

Up until recently, she would just drag them around the house with her, but she has since been seen "taking care" of them. It started with covering them with a blanket (read any piece of squarish fabric that she finds laying around.) She has since honed her "parenting skills" and has begun to share her food with them, let them breast feed (that was interesting the first time) and kissing their boo-boos when they fall (read when she drops them) Today's new development takes the cake though as I caught her wiping the bunnies nose! Does it get any cuter than that?!

Here she is with all of them! Don't you just want to pinch those cheeks?

Window Shopping Wednesday!

I've been wanting to start a weekly theme on my blog for a while now and finally found some time to dedicate to it! So, without further ado I give you Window Shopping Wednesdays, where I will showcase some of the many talented artists on Etsy.  My plan is to have a themed theme, if you will, and for the first ever Window Shopping Wednesday, I decided to put together an etsy mini showcasing jewelry. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed picking them! :)

Child Labor?

My apologies for my absence in the past week! I've been running around like a mad woman tying up loose ends for this craft show and as a result, neglected my beloved blog readers!  To get back in the swing of things, I thought it would be fun to share a photo of my daughter and I sewing together.

Until recently my daughter despised my sitting at the sewing machine, as it took attention away from her. I guess all of my sewing lately has sparked her interest though, because I found her sitting at my sewing machine trying to feed fabric through it just like I do! I think we may be passing on the sewing gene to one more generation!

A few days later she decided that she wanted to sit with me while I sew. It makes sewing a bit difficult, as she has a hard time resisting the buttons on my machine, but I wouldn't trade these moments for anything in the world! I just wonder if there are laws against this sort of thing! :)

*Please excuse the mess and pajamas. We're late risers in our house! :)
